Component Presets

On occasion, you may want to save a preset for a component, this is a default Unity feature, and will allow you or other users to access a predefined set of values for any given component. This is especially useful for saving and loading default values for asset components, if a user would like to load them for example.

Note

By default, a component contains serialized data. This means that all components should retain the values set at the time a prefab was created. This means the default values preset should only be relied on if a user has changed a component and wants an easy way to revert it, but the revert overrides feature is not working. Data should always be set before saving the component to a prefab in order to distribute correctly.

To save a preset, you can use the preset icon in the top left of any component window.

A preset will load as soon as it is clicked! Be sure to save a backup preset before loading a new one!

From here, you can save a preset to a file, or load an existing preset

Note

Preset files can be shared and should load on other setups, however this is largely untested, and we are working on our own system for this currently!
In order for this to work, you may have to manually assign GameObjects from your heirarchy, and any materials that do not have matching GUIDs
